The mass media activities of the Ministry may be broadly grouped into three sectors, viz., the Broadcasting and Telecasting Sector, the Film Sector, and the Information Sector. The units and organisations involved in these tasks are – Mass Media: Prasar Bharati (Akashvani and Doordarshan)
Films: Films Division, National Film Archives of India, Children’s Film Society, India, National Centre of Films for Children, Directorate of Film Festivals, National Film Development Corporation, Central Board of Film Certification (a statutory body), Film and TV Institute of India, Satyajit Ray Films and Television Institute of India
Information Dissemination and Publicity: Press Information Bureau, Photo Division, Publication Division, Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity, Directorate of Field Publicity
Research and Training: Research, Reference and Training Division, Indian Institute of Mass communication, National Documentation on Mass Communication
Statutory Functions: Press Council of India, Office of the Registrar of Newspapers for India.
