Geology is a major part of science that studies the earth’s history, composition and structure. Their profession involves analysing rock formations, interpreting data, and fieldwork studying rocks. Geologists who are reviewing land or consulting on environmental issues can expect to spend five to fifteen hours a day outdoors. They take samples and measurements and explore underneath the initial layers of the earth. Once they've completed their fieldwork, they return to the lab and test their samples for content and composition.
Geology is the study of the Earth's composition, processes, and history, and ways geologic principles apply to the Moon and planets of the Solar System.
A geological science major seeks to understand the earth and its physical, chemical and biological evolution. The required core curriculum is suitable for most types of geological employment and for graduate study. The core can be supplemented with additional courses or joint majors leading to specializations such as geophysics, geological education, marine studies, and environmental geology.
Geophysics is a little bit different but closely inter related area of Geology. Geophysicists the using concept of physics, mathematics, and chemistry to study the Earth’s surface, its internal composition and its magnetic, electrical, and gravitational forces.
