If you want to buy a portable DVD player for your car, then you’ll want to read this list of the top 7 buying features to look for in a player. After reading this article you should know how to rank your own feature list and easily purchase your first portable DVD player.

1. Player Formats

Some players can handle more formats than you would expect. This includes .avi files in DIVX format and the ability to read older DVD’s. I’ve been able to play files directly off my camcorder as well as shows I’ve recorded on TV using my DVD recorder. If you purchase a player online make sure it will work in your country. Check to see if your player can handle multiple formats.

2. Is it Quiet?

Try to find a player that is quiet. Some players grind when you insert a DVD. I find it very distracting when I watch a movie and I hear any noise. In some cases I may be watching a DVD in a quiet library that may disturb others. So, don’t forget to check the noise levels.

3. How is the Quality?

I always look for quality built products. That includes my DVD player. The player should start quickly. The case should feel sturdy enough to take the back and forth as you move it around.

4. Long Battery Life

Don’t you hate when you are in the middle of a movie and your battery dies? Look for a rating of 4-6 hours of battery life. Make sure you have a car adapter that plugs in your cigarette lighter.

5. Big Screen

We all watch big screens at home. Why not when we are on the road. Choose the biggest screen that makes sense. I currently have a 10 inch screen. It’s great for watching movies.

6. Big Sound

Most people say they like to listen to the sound with head phones. Not Me. I look for a good quality speaker that is LOUD.

7. Available Accessories

What options are available? Some interesting options are a remote control unit. It’s nice to have if you need to reduce the sound when you are driving and the kids are in the back seat.

So that’s my top 7 list for buying a portable DVD player. So, just use my list to decide what is important for you then start shopping. You can’t go wrong!
